The 2023 Asian Peace Student Baduk Competition, which will determine the strongest Go player of Asian students, will be held in Yangyang-gun, the global platform base, from December 2 to 3, and about 500 athletes from six Asian countries, including Korea, will participate.

 

In this year's ninth competition, about 500 students from major Asian countries, including China, Japan, Taiwan, Thailand, and Hong Kong, as well as Korea, the host country, will represent their countries to determine their identity through brain competition.

 

Hosted by the Yangyang-gun Sports Association and the Yangyang-gun Baduk Association, and organized by the Asian Baduk Federation, the Korea Youth Baduk Federation, and the Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province Baduk Association, the competition is held at the Yangyang-gun Indoor Gymnasium with middle and high school (32), elementary school students' students' students' students' students (32), senior students (4th to 6th grade, 32nd grade)It will be held in eight categories, including the lower grades (1st to 3rd grade, 32nd grade), the dream tree division (1st to 6th grade, 32nd grade), the new star division (120 people in 10 categories from 1st to 6th grade), the strongest kindergarten division (16 people), and the general kindergarten division (200 people).

 

Participating students are available to anyone living in Asia, and eight categories will be played on December 2nd and 3rd, with prize money, certificates, and trophies ranging from 10,000 won to 500,000 won from the round of 16 winners in each category to the championship.

 

The Yangyang County Baduk Association is strengthening its cooperative system with the Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province Baduk Association to successfully host the competition, and is providing convenience such as accommodation for students participating in the competition as well as active administrative support.

 

Following the first competition in Osaka, Japan, the 2023 Asian Peace Student Baduk Competition has been held annually in China, Hong Kong, and Korea, playing a role in expanding the base of the Go population as well as using the right brains of growing teenagers and delivering a message of peace.

 

In particular, Yangyang-gun and Yangyang-gun Baduk Associations are sublimating into a place for global character cultivation and peaceful exchange based on their excellent results by participating in various Go competitions, including the Provincial Sports Festival.

 

Kim Jin-ha, head of Yangyang County, said, "It is a great honor and welcome for Asian students to visit Yangyang County for this peace-go competition," and welcomed, "We will support Go to become a catalyst for the right values and brain utilization for teenagers growing up as they spread the message of peace."

 

Jin Jong-ho, a member of the Gangwon Special Self-Governing Provincial Council, said, "We hope that teenagers participating in this competition will be able to build peace and friendship with Go."
