Sokcho City announced that it will hold the "2nd Sokcho Abandoned Animal Adoption Event" with the Abandoned Animal Protection Association of Sokcho City (Chairman Kim Mi-sook) at 10 a.m. on October 26 at the Expo's Symbol Tower Square.

Sokcho City said, "This event was organized as a warm event where you can feel a sense of responsibility for life and love for being to take care of," adding, "Through this event, the biggest goal was to send stray animals protected by Sokcho City's organic animal shelter into the arms of new families."

At the event, the event will first hold a "pro-friendly civic group launching ceremony" in which citizens become close friends 1:1 with abandoned dogs in abandoned animal shelters. Participants in the pro-friendly civic group will visit the shelter to engage in sympathetic activities with abandoned animals made up of friends, and will actively find places for adoption and ultimately support abandoned animals to enter the arms of their new families.

In addition, participants who adopt abandoned animals will be given a small amount of adoption items to support a new daily life starting with their dogs. In addition, free medical support, including consultation with veterinarians on pets, on-site photo studios that take family photos with dogs for free, and pet supplies bazaar events are expected to allow pets to enjoy various events.

Officials said they expect the event, which was launched to improve awareness of abandoned animals and provide opportunities for adoption to citizens who usually wanted pets, to raise interest in abandoned animals.

Sokcho Mayor Lee Byung-sun said, "Adoption of abandoned animals is a valuable opportunity to share warm hearts with a sense of responsibility for life, and I hope that this event will create an opportunity for many abandoned animals to meet new families and for citizens to establish special relationships with pets," adding, "In Sokcho, we will continue to make efforts to protect abandoned animals and move forward to a warm city where we live with pets."
