▲ Sokcho City Holds Sokcho Busking Festival

Sokcho City and the Sokcho Branch of Gangwon Folk Art Association will hold a nationwide busking competition called "Sokcho Busking Festival" on October 28 on a special stage at Expo Lawn Square.

At the "Sokcho Busking Festival," which will be held from 14:00 on October 28, 11 teams (6 teams for ordinary people and 5 teams for teenagers) will be selected through document and video screening in August and on-site preliminaries in September and October.

The event, which is being pushed for a boom-up at the 2024 Gangwon Winter Youth Olympics, will feature a total of six teams, including a youth team composed of various genres such as singing, rap, dance, and taekwondo performances, followed by Hongdae's representative rock band "Springs," hip-hop musician "OTOW" based on boom bap sound in the 1990s, hip-hop musician "Rosco" based on Mark Rothk, "Gypsy Wanderers" to play Balkan gypsy music, "Chan-on" with unique tones, and "Sound Hills," which won the Gangbyeon Music Festival Grand Prize.

After the final performance between the youth team and the general public team, the "Sokcho Busking Festival" award ceremony and celebratory performances will be held from 19:00, and the celebratory performance will feature "Kingston Rudiska," which will showcase exciting reggae music, and "Gangsane," also called the singers' singer, to mark the end of the "Sokcho Busking Festival."

Sokcho Mayor Lee Byung-sun said, "We ask for a lot of attention and participation from citizens and tourists in the Sokcho Busking Festival, which will be introduced for the first time as part of the creation and promotion of the 2024 Gangwon Winter Youth Olympics, and we hope that this festival will leave unforgettable memories and good memories for citizens and tourists visiting the festival on the last Saturday of October."
