▲ The 2023 Yangyang River National Marathon ended successfully

The 2023 Yangyang River National Marathon, which runs with autumn in the background of the Namdaecheon River and the East Sea, ended successfully on October 22 in the heat of many participants.

Under the sunny autumn sky, about 4,000 participants and spectators filled the venue, and it was evaluated as a successful competition this year following last year, and it was evaluated as a step forward as the nation's representative marathon competition.

This competition was hosted by Yangyang-gun, the Korea Athletics Federation, and G1 Broadcasting, and organized by the Gangwon-do Athletics Federation and G1 Broadcasting, and was held as a course where you can experience and enjoy the beautiful Namdaecheon, Naksan Beach, and Dongho Beach. In particular, through the Namdaecheon Renaissance Project, you could enjoy the beautiful scenery of Namdaecheon, where local culture and clean nature are harmonized.

In addition, more than 300 people, including police, government officials, volunteer centers, autonomous crime prevention guards, model drivers' associations, and sports associations, were deployed to major points throughout the competition for the safety of participants.

As souvenirs and prizes of the event, Yangyang Hatmi rice, pine cookies, Yangyang Mall honey natural pine mushrooms, blood balloon flower pear juice, resort vouchers in the jurisdiction, and Galaxy Watch 6 were provided, which helped revitalize the economy along with natural promotion of agricultural products and specialties in Yangyang-gun, and various prizes were well received by participants.

Participants said, "I was able to enjoy the beautiful sea and the scenery of Namdaecheon, and it was the best competition with good cost-effectiveness with various souvenirs," adding, "Thanks to the volunteers, police, and medical staff who struggled to support the competition, I was able to enjoy the competition well, and I am already looking forward to the Yangyang riverside marathon next year."

We will make efforts to make up for the shortcomings and make it a competition that develops every year, and we will create an opportunity to become a global international competition by going further from the national level, said Kim Jin-ha, head of Yangyang-gun.
