Sokcho City announced that the 20th National Excellent Market Fair "2024 K-Traditional Market Fair in Sokcho," the largest traditional market event, ended successfully after a three-day schedule from October 18 to 20.

Under the slogan "K-Traditional Market Power! Beyond Korea to the World!" this fair gave many citizens and visitors great pleasure even in bad weather with various attractions and colorful side events. In particular, the "K-Traditional Market History Hall" and the Youth Merchants Zone impressed by introducing the past, present, and future of the traditional market.

The 2024 National Excellent Market Fair, held in Sokcho, revitalized the local economy by attracting many visitors with a variety of food and attractions, including product exhibitions and food markets, where 230 stores participated in 130 traditional markets nationwide despite inclement weather.

In addition, programs were operated to expand sales channels and promote sales for traditional market merchants. Excellent product exhibitions and export and online expansion consulting programs conducted in collaboration with the Korean MD Association were well received for providing practical help to increase sales of traditional market merchants.

On the last day of the fair, various programs such as samulnori, K-pop performances, and large-scale bibimbap making performances were prepared for foreign crew and passengers of the Nordam, which entered Sokcho International Cruise Terminal, attracting attention by showing the charm of Sokcho as a cruise port and the charm of traditional markets that extend beyond Korea to the world.

Sokcho Mayor Lee Byung-sun thanked, "We were able to finish the event successfully thanks to many citizens who love Sokcho and traditional markets and visitors from all over the country despite the bad weather that rained a lot," adding, "We hope this fair will be a priming water for our traditional market to expand to the world beyond the venue for exchanges between traditional markets and consumers."
