The Yangyang Cultural Foundation will hold the "2024 Baby Salmon Sending Experience Festival" for three days from March 8th to 10th at the multipurpose plaza in Yangyang-gun and Namdaecheon area.

This festival, held in Namdaecheon, Yangyang, the largest salmon return river in Korea, is the pick-up water for the Salmon Festival, a representative festival in Yangyang-gun, and was designed to help visitors understand the environment through ecological education on salmon and various experience programs.

The festival will be held in collaboration with the Donghae Life Resources Center of the Korea Fisheries Resources Corporation, where participants can release salmon fish and check the ecology of Namdaecheon and salmon.

About 100,000 salmon fry released during the festival will pass through Namdaecheon and the East Sea to Alaska and return to Namdaecheon three to five years later.

The festival program consists of experience-oriented programs that can be enjoyed by men and women of all ages, along with decorating baby salmon discharge containers and feeding baby salmon.

In particular, the "Yangyang Beach Market" will be joined by artists filled with salmon and nature, and the "Yangyang Oil Market" will be held on March 9 during the festival so that you can feel the spring of Yangyang.

The experience is divided into five sessions, 60 minutes each, and 100 people are recruited for each session, and reservations can be made through the Yangyang-gun smart tourism platform "Goyangyang" app from February 26 to March 10.

The cost of sending baby salmon is 5,000 won per person, and 3,000 won discount coupons that can be used in the market in the festival hall will be given to reservations.

"This festival is meaningful because we can develop a more respectful and loving heart for nature through direct and indirect experiences with nature," said Jeonju Byeong, secretary-general of the Yangyang Cultural Foundation. "We hope many people will visit Yangyang-gun, which has nature of heaven, and make fun memories."
