Sokcho City Participates in 'Tokyo Host Cruise Port Sales'
Sokcho City announced that it will participate in a cruise port sales event held in Tokyo from the 16th to the 17th, hosted by the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries with the Gangwon Tourism Foundation, to promote Sokcho Port and port sale to attract cruises between Korea and Japan.
A city official said, "The Tokyo Cruise Port Sale event will be attended by major Japanese travel agencies such as JTB and HIS, as well as global cruise companies such as MSC Cruise, Silver Sea, Princess Cruise, and Costa."
He also added that at the end of May, a Sinic cruise official will visit Sokcho City in advance to inspect port facilities and coordinate future schedules ahead of the arrival of Sokcho Port next year.
Sokcho Mayor Lee Byung-sun said, "Cruise is a high-value-added tourism industry that drives regional economic development with as many as thousands of people visiting one port alone, but continuous efforts are needed to enter the stage of revitalization that citizens feel," adding, "We will make all-out efforts to expand Sokcho Port's position in the global cruise market."
Meanwhile, Sokcho City promoted an active pot sale to Holland America shipping companies with the Gangwon Tourism Foundation in 2022, the early days of the 8th popular election, attracting a total of seven cruises from 2023 to 2026, and has paid off by attracting various global cruise companies such as Silver Sea, Sinic Cruise, and The World Cruise through participation in international cruise fairs. <저작권자 ⓒ 설악타임즈 무단전재 및 재배포 금지>
