Korea Craft & Design Culture Promotion Agency (Director Jang Dong-kwang, hereinafter referred to as Gong Jin-won) announced on the 25th that Korea Craft Week 2024, the largest craft festival in Korea, will make new changes based on the four cities selected for the first time this year.

 

The "2024 Craft Week," which marks its seventh anniversary this year, will be held from May 17 to 26, setting the slogan "Urban-Life-Craft Studio," which means meeting crafts and workshops in cities and everywhere in everyday life.

 

As a base city for 2024 craft culture, Goseong-gun, Gangwon-do, Jinju-si, Gyeongsangnam-do, Buan-gun, Jeollabuk-do, Jeonju, Jeollabuk-do, were selected.

 

 

The Gongjinwon announced a blueprint to promote various support for discovering local craft culture based on the base city of craft culture, and to promote balanced regional development through culture based on this.

 

Local governments selected as 2024 Craft Culture Base Cities will be provided with up to 100 million won in support and run year-round craft culture programs, including Craft Week, to provide local residents with opportunities to enjoy craft culture in their daily lives.

 

Among the four base cities nationwide, Goseong-gun is preparing sustainable craft experience and activity programs on the subject of climate and environmental issues against the backdrop of a clean natural environment.

 

Jinju City is preparing a craft culture program where you can experience various crafts of Jinju, which has a long history and tradition such as woodcraft, gyubang crafts, ceramics, and Korean paper.Buan-gun uses Buan celadon, which continues to be the legacy of Goryeo celadon, as a core resource and conducts craft culture programs by converging stories with various local places.

 

Jeonju City, a traditional culture-oriented city, utilizes rich traditional cultures such as Korean paper, hanbok, and hanok and expands communication and communication in the region through various programs to experience craft-related local assets.

 

In addition, 14 unique planning programs will be held nationwide, including Seoul, Gyeonggi, Gwangju, and Busan, in time for Craft Week.
