Sokcho is nervous ahead of the 2024 Yeongrangho Cherry Blossom Festival, which will be held in Yeongrangho Lake for two days from the 30th to the 31st.

It is a representative cherry blossom attraction tourist destination in Sokcho that attracts more than 100,000 people from March to April every year, and as the first cherry blossom festival of this year is expected to attract large crowds, safety accidents and traffic congestion are feared.

Sokcho City held a safety management working-level coordination committee at the digital situation room of City Hall on the 19th to discuss countermeasures.

The meeting was presided over by the head of the Future City Bureau of Sokcho City and focused on maintaining order at the venue and transportation measures in Yeongnang Lake, with officials from each department and working-level members from each field such as Sokcho Police Station, Sokcho Fire Station, and Sokcho Maritime Police Station attending.

It also inspected the duties of managers at the venue and facilities, measures to take in an emergency, the plan to deploy safety management personnel at the venue, and the establishment of an emergency contact system.

On the 29th, the day before the event, a joint safety inspection will be conducted at the event site, and a comprehensive situation room will be installed and operated during the event to ensure the safety management of visitors.

Sokcho Yeongnangho Cherry Tree is built along the 7km circumference of the lake, and numerous citizens and tourists are enjoying the atmosphere of spring flowers in full bloom during the cherry blossom season.
