The "2024 Baby Salmon Sending Experience Festival," which was held at the multipurpose plaza in Yangyang-gun and Namdaecheon for three days from March 8 to 10, was successfully completed.

The festival, which was held against the backdrop of Yangyang Namdaecheon, the largest salmon return river in Korea, was loved for its richer and more organized appearance by providing various education and experience activities to local residents and tourists.

At the Donghae Life Resources Center of the Korea Fisheries Resources Corporation, the nation's top salmon research institute, a specialized researcher explained salmon and answered children's questions on the spot.

It also contributed to revitalizing the local economy through food booths using local agricultural products and the participation of local small business owners, and filled the venue with rich experiences such as feeding baby salmon, coloring salmon dolls, making fish mobiles, sending baby salmon postcards, and salmon albingo.

More than 3,000 people visited during the festival, especially on the 9th, Yangyang Oil Market, which has a history of more than 100 years, was held, and Yangyang Traditional Market and Festival Hall were crowded.

Although more participants gathered than expected, pre-booking through the Yangyang-gun smart tourism platform "Goyangyang" has minimized on-site waiting times and increased convenience for visitors by receiving systematic applications.

During this festival, the Yangyang-gun smart tourism platform "Goyang" app was downloaded an average of 60 cases per day and up to 137 cases per day, and the county will continue to actively use the "Goyang" app in connection with local festivals and events.

A festival official at the Yangyang Cultural Foundation said, "The 2024 Baby Salmon Experience Festival was successfully completed based on sustainable planning, environmentally friendly operation, and cooperation with the public and private communities," and added, "We will continue to make efforts to help the development of local festivals and the growth of the tourism industry."
