Sokcho City announced that the 20th National Excellent Market Fair, 2024 K-Traditional Market Fair in Sokcho," the largest event in the traditional market, will be held at the Suhyup port site in Sokcho, Gangwon State for three days from the 18th to the 20th."

The National Excellent Market Fair, which began in 2004 and marks its 20th anniversary this year, is an event that exhibits, promotes, and sells excellent products from traditional markets and shopping districts across the country.

Under the slogan "The Power of K-Traditional Market! Beyond Korea to the World!" this year's fair will feature various attempts to give a glimpse into the future of the global K-Traditional Market. In collaboration with the Korean MD Association, 10 MDs will be invited to hold a product exhibition on outstanding products in traditional markets and support consulting for export and online entry of traditional markets.

More than 130 traditional markets and 230 stores across the country will participate to provide a variety of 400 products and 100 kinds of food, attractions, and entertainment to fill the product exhibition hall and food market.

The "K-Traditional Market History Hall" and children's painting exhibitions will be held outdoors to view the past and present of Korean traditional markets, while the youth merchant zone and traditional markets in Gangwon State will be created separately in the "Gangwon Special Self-Governing Hall."

On the 20th, the last day of the fair, more than 1,000 foreign crew and passengers from the Nordam cruise ship entering Sokcho International Cruise Terminal will visit the fair.

For them, special programs for foreign customers will be prepared, including traditional folk games such as samulnori and tightrope walking, K-pop performances, and large-scale bibimbap making performances. In addition, experience programs such as trick art, making sea glass necklaces, and calligraphy against the backdrop of Sokcho's sea and busking performances by Sokcho artists will be held every day during the event.

△On the 18th, celebratory performances by popular trot singers such as Jang Min-ho, Yang Ji-eun, Hong Jin-young and Shin Seung-tae, and drone light show will be held where 500 drones will beautifully embroider Sokcho's night sky. △On the 19th, celebratory performances by famous Korean singers such as Kim Pil, Huh Gak, and Baek Ji-young, including Sokcho's classical ensemble performances, and beautiful fireworks will fill Sokcho's autumn night sky. △On the 20th, children's musicals of "Hangul Soldier Iya," crossover group RapoM, and girl group Wina will boost the excitement of visitors.

Sokcho Mayor Lee Byung-sun said, "The fair is expected to attract more than 200,000 tourists and citizens, and it is expected to greatly help small business owners increase sales, support sales channels, and revitalize the local economy. We have prepared a lot of various celebratory performances and attractions for many tourists and citizens visiting the fair, so please pay a lot of attention and participate."
