Sokcho City Museum to hold a folk experience event for the Chuseok holiday
Sokcho City Museum in Gangwon Province will hold a folk experience event for the Chuseok holiday on the 30th for visitors and tourists who have returned to their hometowns.
According to the museum on the 26th, this event consists of making donggrangttaeng (a traditional Korean cookie) and songpyeon (a half-moon shaped rice cake), which remind people of the holiday, and experiencing traditional games that our ancestors enjoyed, such as kicking a shuttlecock, playing with a gonu (a wooden top), and playing with an air ball.
There will also be a performance of sangmo-pan-gut (a traditional Korean shamanic ritual) by the city’s folk culture group, providing various entertainment and attractions for the visitors.
Lee Byung-seon, mayor of Sokcho, said, “I hope that those who visit the museum on the occasion of the national holiday of Chuseok will make happy memories with their families.” He added, “We will continue to work hard to preserve and inherit the traditional culture that is being forgotten through various cultural experiences and programs.” <저작권자 ⓒ 설악타임즈 무단전재 및 재배포 금지>
