The ‘Inje County DMZ Peace Trail Theme Route’, which preserves the scars of war and the pain of division, has reopened.
The Inje DMZ Peace Trail (hereafter Inje DMZ Peace Trail) was opened to the public for the first time in 70 years last September, and received positive feedback from visitors. After a summer break in July and August, it resumed this month.
The Inje DMZ Peace Trail is a total of 46 km long, starting from Daegok-ri Post in Seohwa-myeon, passing through Eulji Intersection and 1052 Hill, and returning to the starting point. It takes about three hours, mostly by car. It also includes a 1.5 km long walking section called ‘Eulji Skyway’, where visitors can walk through the DMZ area.
Especially from 1052 Hill, visitors can enjoy the beautiful scenery of the DMZ, such as Birobong Peak of Geumgangsan Mountain and the three unreturned areas along the Baekdudaegan Mountain Range. They can also learn more about the history of 854 Hill Monument and Yanggu Punch Bowl from professional guides.
The Inje DMZ Peace Trail operates five days a week until November, and the number of visitors per day is limited to 40. On weekdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays, it runs twice a day at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., with 20 people each. On weekends, Saturdays and Sundays, it runs only once at 10 a.m. with 40 people. <저작권자 ⓒ 설악타임즈 무단전재 및 재배포 금지>
