Sokcho City announced that the "2024 Sokcho Food Festival (Masoupda! Sokcho)" will be held in conjunction with the 59th Seorak Cultural Festival for three days from October 4th in the area of the Expo Symbol Tower Square.
Seven of Sokcho's 10 representative foods, including squid sundae, makguksu, chicken gangjeong, jangkalguksu, potato ball soup, cold raw fish, and braised half-dried pollack, will participate in the festival to present the taste of Sokcho to visitors. In addition, 21 food booths will be operated, including six additional foods, including red shrimp paste, five desserts and drinks, and two specialties (handmade beer, dried seaweed).
"The foods of Sokcho are added to the geographical characteristics of Seoraksan Mountain and the East Sea with the unique cultural characteristics of displaced people's culture to increase the enjoyment of Sokcho with a colorful and original taste," the city said. "This festival, which will be held for the second time this year, aims to be an 'environmentally friendly festival without changing fees' by advocating a sustainable festival."
Meanwhile, Sokcho City has formed a consensus with local small business owners by openly recruiting participating booths, holding preliminary meetings, and opening communication channels for a three-free festival without rip-off fees, safety accidents, and festival-type garbage. Through this, we plan to seek and promote cooperation measures such as rational rate setting, advance price announcement, thorough prevention of safety accidents such as gas, and use of multiple containers and eco-friendly products.
Visitors to the festival venue will order food at 21 booths in the venue and eat at the dining area in the center of the venue by receiving multi-use plates, cups, and cutlery. The used containers can be returned to the multi-use container collection box installed at the venue. In addition, it plans to minimize waste generated at the festival by inducing people to refrain from bringing in external food and plastic.
Sokcho Mayor Lee Byung-sun said, "We ask for your interest and participation in this festival where you can enjoy the colorful taste of Sokcho in one place," and vowed, "We will continue to do our best to build an eco-friendly gourmet tourism brand that can be enjoyed at a good price with citizens."
Meanwhile, a carbon neutrality campaign with visitors will also be held. Carbon neutrality programs such as bringing a personal tumbler and food container, or providing eco-friendly souvenirs to visitors who certify walking 10,000 steps on the day of the event will be held. <저작권자 ⓒ 설악타임즈 무단전재 및 재배포 금지>
