Inje-gun proceeds with 'Baekdam Pilgrimage Road Walking with Poets' during the 2024 Mannhae Festival
Inje-gun announced that the "Baekdam Pilgrimage Road Walking with Poets" event will be held on August 11 during the 26th Manhae Festival in the religious and ideological hometown of Han Yong-un, Manhae Prefecture.
The county explained, "In this event to honor the ideology and literary spirit of the shipping company Han Yong-un and Musan Jo Oh-hyun, we will walk with 10 poets for about three hours on a 9.5km pilgrimage route from Manhae Village to Baekdamsa Temple." "The walk-only trail for Baekdam Valley included in the pilgrimage route has been created by Inje County and the National Park Service's Seoraksan National Park Office since 2020, and participants' expectations are high in that they can appreciate the scenery of Baekdam Valley, which has not been disclosed."
The recruitment of participants has been held nationwide online since July 15, and participants will be provided with small souvenirs, snacks, and lunch free of charge.
Poetry by participating poets is displayed throughout the pilgrimage route, where visitors can feel various works and the atmosphere of Baekdam Valley, and through a lecture by poet Shin Dal-ja, they can meet in-depth literature. In addition, the county will provide meaningful programs to participants through literary events.
"I hope this event will be a special experience to practice and inherit the spirit of Manhae and follow the trajectory of the life of the prehistoric people," said an official from the Seolak and Manhae Thought Practice Promotion Association, which hosts the event.
