▲ '2024 Yangyang Granpondo Bicycle Competition' ended in a booming manner

Yangyang-gun said the "2024 Yangyang Granpondo" held on the 27th against the backdrop of beautiful Namdaecheon Stream, Seoraksan Mountain, and the East Sea ended successfully.

Yangyang-gun said he was praised for running a more complete competition along with the best course through his first competition last year.

Yangyang-gun said, "This year, we added a coastal course and operated a 68-kilometer Mediophondo course along with the Granfondo course, which increased to 151 kilometers, so more participants could experience the pleasure of racing with the open East Sea," adding, "On the day of the competition, the area of Yangyang-eup was filled with cars and participants carrying bicycles, and many people visited restaurants and cafes to help revitalize the local economy."

The "2024 Yangyang Granpondo" competition is set in Namdaecheon in Yangyang, Donghae, and Seoraksan Mountain, and is a course that passes all over the mountains, rivers, and seas, and it is evaluated that it was successfully held without safety accidents through cooperation with local related organizations and social organizations.

More than 2,000 bicycle lovers from all over the country participated in the competition, leaving Yangyang Welcome Center at 7:30 a.m. on the 27th, passing Naksan Bridge, Hajodae Intersection, and Yongcheon-ri Junction. Medio Fondo will return to Namdaecheon Dunchi after going around Busochijae, and Gran Fondo will return to Namdaecheon Dunchi after going around Sangpyeong Intersection and parts of Inje-eup and Buk-myeon in Inje-gun and Hangyeryeong at the junction.

Participants were able to enjoy the beautiful nature and spring atmosphere, and the competition ended safely without an accident after Yangyang-gun, Inje-gun, and other local organizations did not miss the tension to safely ride and prevent accidents until the end of the competition.

Yangyang-gun's efforts to hold the competition safely were also shown. In cooperation with Sokcho Police Station and Inje Police Station, the competition course was closely inspected to remove risk factors in advance.

In addition, for the safe operation of the competition, Sokcho and Inje Police Station was in charge of traffic control at major branches, and 20 Marshall (Yudowon) motorcycles and 9 emergency vehicles were operated.

Social service organizations such as the Yangyang-gun Sports Association, the Yangyang-gun Volunteer Center, the Yangyang-gun Volunteer Fire Brigade, the Yangyang-gun Volunteer Fire Brigade, the Inje-gun Volunteer Center, the Inje-gun Volunteer Corps, the Inje-gun Volunteer Corps, the Inje-gun Volunteer Fire Brigade, and the Inje-gun Volunteer Fire Brigade also worked hard to support traffic control and operation of events and supply stations, including full control of vehicles in some sections, guidance on slow travel, and guidance on bypass roads.

On the other hand, Yangyang-gun said that with its natural scenery and a course along the coast, it has established itself as a good place for bikers to ride bicycles, and that the Yangyang County Office Cycling Team and Yangyang High School Cycling Team, the region's historic and prestigious teams, have won several national competitions and are making a name for themselves.
