■Karting Korea Championship 3rd Round, Intense Race for the Champion at Inje Speedium
"The 3rd round of the 2023 Korea Automobile Racing Association (KARA) Karting Korea Championship (KKC), the highest karting competition in South Korea, will be held at the Inje Speedium Kart Center in Gangwon Province on September 17th.
The 3rd round is the third out of five rounds, and the competition among the main classes is fierce. The 3rd round was originally planned for three days, but it was changed to September 17th after consultation with the drivers to maintain their condition. Inje Speedium installed special barriers at the kart center and passed KARA’s inspection twice.
The KKC 3rd round will consist of eight classes, including the senior max, which is the top class, junior max, micro max, and others. Each class is divided by engine, chassis, and driver age, and uses a one-make engine in a sprint race format.
The senior max class is a close race for the season champion. Lee Kyu-ho (Pino Kart), who took the lead with 65 points after winning the 2nd round, decided not to participate in domestic competitions this year due to personal reasons, creating a variable in the race for the top spot.
The gap between Hong Jun-beom (Team Champions), who is second with 64 points, Choi Jung-hyun (52 points), who is third, Kim Gun-gu (43 points), who is fourth, and Kwak Dong-ryun (Pino Kart), who is fifth with 32 points, is 32 points. The winner of the 3rd round among the second to fifth place drivers can jump to the top spot at once.
The micro max class is for the youngest drivers (7-11 years old). Choi Kang-hyun (Pino Kart), who achieved the first place in the season with one point ahead despite finishing second in the first round, widened the gap by 10 points with Tsevbski Mark (Pino Kart), who is currently second, by winning the second round. The duel between the two drivers is a point of interest in the 3rd round. Also, Park Do-yul (Team Champions) and Jo I-rok (Pino Kart), who are tied with 49 points for third place, are expected to compete for third place."
