Yangyang-gun announced that the "8.15 Celebration 2024 Yangyang International Cycling Competition and National Cycling Competition" will be held for four days from the 20th to the 23rd to commemorate Liberation Day and expand the base of the cycle.

The competition will be held at Yangyang Cycling Stadium with international standards, with a total of four additional track events (sprint, solo, 1 Lap, bicycle, group sprint, individual pursuit, group pursuit, scratch, etc.), and separate disabled (men) events are scheduled for 1Km solo and 4Km individual pursuit events.

The number of participants is 320 from 82 teams, 279 from 64 teams in Korea, 22 from 10 teams abroad (Hong Kong, Malaysia, Indonesia, India, Thailand), and 17 from 8 teams with disabilities, and domestic and foreign competent players will participate in the competition.

The county said, "We plan to support the off-season training and prepare and operate the competition so that it can develop every year so that it can become one of the best competitions in Korea," adding, "This competition is organized by the Korean Bicycle Federation, the Korea Business Cycle Federation, and the Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province Bicycle Federation."

Any local residents and tourists can watch it for free at Yangyang Cycling Stadium (149 Airport-ro, Sonyang-myeon, Yangyang-gun).

A military official said, "We will do our best to ensure the safety of the athletes and the success of the competition," and added, "We will strive to expand the base of the cycle and find excellent players, and continue to actively host various sports competitions and contribute to the local economy."

Meanwhile, Yangyang-gun held the 2024 Yangyang Granpondo Bicycle Competition, the 2024 Yangyang County National BMX Competition, and the KBS Yangyang National Cycling Championship this year.
