Yangyang-gun will hold the 46th Yangyang Cultural Festival for three days from the 20th
Yangyang County announced that the 46th Yangyang Cultural Festival, a local cultural festival of Yangyang County residents' dialogue, will be held from June 20 to 22 at the Yangyang Namdaecheon Waterfront Park, and the event will be hosted by the Yangyang Cultural Festival Committee and co-hosted by the Yangyang Cultural Center and the Yangyang County Sports Council.
The county said, "Yangyang Cultural Festival is a representative local cultural festival that inspires pride in the region that has blossomed traditional culture in its long history and wishes for national security and good farming and fishing," and the 46th Yangyang Cultural Festival said, "Starting with the city parade and opening ceremony on June 20, there are plenty of things to enjoy, including folk performances and experiences, along with the Yangyang County People's Harmony Hanmadang Sports Festival for the solidarity and harmony of the people."
On the morning of the 20th, the first day of the event, Kochi-mulje and Seonghwangje, which pray for national health and good harvest, will be held at Kochi-mul Spring Site and Seonghwangsa Temple, respectively, to announce the start of the Yangyang Cultural Festival. From 4 p.m., some 500 people from civil, government, and military, including schools, institutions, social organizations, and military units, will participate in the parade of the city, led by the Chwittadae, our own traditional band, Yangju Defense Temple and Daepo-gunmanho, the Neolithic patriarchal procession, Yangyang Nongak procession, six township public relations parades, and five volunteer organizations.
At 6:30 p.m., more than 100 people, including professional actors and members of veterans' organizations, will present a reenactment of the Yangyang Manse Movement on a special stage at Yangyang Namdaecheon Waterfront Park, followed by an award ceremony for the winners of the County Residents' Culture Award. At the ceremony, Yoon Yeo-joon, an advisor to the Yangyang Cultural Center (Culture and Arts Division), Um Joo-hyun, the former chairman of the Seo-myeon Lee Jang Council (Social Service Division), and Park Sang-man, director of the Korean Cycling Federation (Sports Division), will be awarded the County Residents' Culture Award for their contributions to promoting local culture and developing the local community.
After the opening ceremony, a performance by invited singers and a singing contest by county residents will be held, and a colorful fireworks will be held at 10 p.m. after the performance to celebrate the opening of the Yangyang Cultural Festival, which marks the 46th anniversary this year.
On the 21st, the next day, there will be a demonstration of local youth's judo, a Nongak demonstration and a Hanmadang party, Sangbokgol Nongyo-sori, an intangible cultural property of Gangwon State, and a folk demonstration of Manualgol Bier-sori, along with folk games and experience events such as Jegichagi, throat extraction, Tuho, Yutnori, ssireum, arm wrestling, Hangung, and tug-of-war. In the evening, guest singer performances and local club performances will be held to the fullest extent of the festival atmosphere.
There will also be a variety of side events during the festival. Celebration cultural events such as Hwiho Contest △Baduk Contest △Hyonsan Baekiljang will be held. △Agricultural and specialty products and local food promotion center △Craft exhibition △Yangyang Old Photo Exhibition and operation of Yangyang History Hall △Yangyang Photo Exhibition △Exhibition of calligraphy, Korean painting and watercolor works △Anabata Market, etc. have prepared a variety of attractions and experiences.
On the 22nd, the last day, the Yangyang County Sports Council's "Yangyang County Residents' Harmony Festival" will be held to open a venue for harmony among local residents through recreation and instant games against the towns and villages, and all three-day festivals will be completed after the closing ceremony at 4 p.m.
